Grant to refurbish the Revere bell
The North Parish steeple holds one of 23 remaining Bells cast by Paul Revere. It is inscribed “Revere & Son- Boston, 1806”. It was hung in the Fourth Meeting House and then moved to the tower of the present Meeting House during its construction in 1836. Concerns about the bell integrity were recently raised, and The Verdin Company, a 182-year-old Revere bell restoration expert, was called in to examine the bell. They found deficiencies with the 1) Headpiece/Clapper/Spring assembly and with 2) the mounting bracket attachment bolts that needed repair. The Verdin Company will perform these repairs during spring 2025 with a Grant of $9,938 from the Friends organization.
