Press Release March 15, 2025
The Friends announce the award of a Grant to refurbish the Paul Revere Bell in the 1836 meeting house.
The Meeting House steeple holds one of 23 remaining Bells cast by Paul Revere. Concerns about the bell integrity were recently raised and the Verdin Company, a 182-year-old Revere bell restoration expert, was called in to examine the bell. They found deficiencies with the 1) Headpiece/Clapper/Spring assembly and with 2) the mounting bracket attachment bolts. A Grant Request was filed to repair these defects and the Friends of the 1836 Meeting House voted to award $9,965 for the repair of the bell deficiencies. The repair is currently underway and is expected to be completed by May 2025.

THANK YOU to the Town of North Andover!
We are overjoyed to learn that on Tuesday May 14, 2024 the North Andover Town Meeting voted to approve grants from the Community Preservation Fund, including a grant for $480,000 awarded to the Friends of the 1836 Meeting House. This grant, combined with other generous donations from our community, will enable us to replace the siding and insulate two facades of our Meeting House, repair the Bell Tower, repair exterior trim and window glazing, and paint the exterior of the Meeting House. The work will begin this Spring and continue into the Fall. We thank the Residents of the Town of North Andover for voting to approve these funds which will preserve our beloved Meeting House for use by North Parish and the wider community!
